Privacy Notice

1. Who we are

BuntuLingo is provided by CamOnact LLC (developed by CamOnact.studio, Plot 325 Kingfisher Road, Courts Valley, Manzini, Kingdom of Eswatini). CamOnact LLC is the data controller for the personal data described in this notice.

2. What we collect

Account details: your email address and password (stored securely, never in plain text).

Voice and text: the speech you record and its written and translated versions, needed to translate.

Conference data: room codes, and room transcripts only when the organiser buys a Transcript Pack.

Word suggestions: slang words you suggest for the shared word list.

Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, and basic usage information such as how many translations you use each day.

Support messages: anything you send us when you contact us.

3. Why we use it and our legal basis

To provide the service, create your account and translate your speech (performance of our contract with you).

To keep the service secure, prevent fraud and misuse, and enforce free-use limits (our legitimate interests).

To improve translations and the app (our legitimate interests).

To answer support requests (contract and legitimate interests).

To meet tax, accounting and legal obligations (legal obligation).

To send marketing messages, only if you agree (consent, which you can withdraw at any time).

4. Who we share it with

Service providers who host the app and database and run the speech-to-text, translation and voice technology on our behalf.

Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for selling the product, managing subscriptions, payments, tax and invoicing. Paddle handles your payment details under its own privacy notice.

Professional advisers such as lawyers and accountants.

Authorities, where the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. How long we keep it

Voice recordings are used only to produce a translation and are not kept afterwards. Conversation history on your device stays on your device. Room data expires after 24 hours unless a Transcript Pack was bought, in which case the transcript is kept so the organiser can download it. Account data is kept while your account is open and deleted or anonymised when no longer needed, except where the law requires us to keep records longer.

6. International transfers

Our service providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States and Europe. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

7. Your rights

Depending on the law of your country (including Eswatini's Data Protection Act, South Africa's POPIA and the GDPR where it applies), you can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or move your data, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent. You can also complain to your data protection authority. We aim to reply within one month.

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections, encrypted password storage and access controls that let each user see only their own data.

9. Cookies and local storage

We use only essential storage: to keep you signed in, remember your chosen language and count your free daily translations. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can clear this storage in your browser settings, but you may be signed out.
